Just because a species is native doesn't mean it's a good IDE to reintroduce them. Wolves were once a native species of these shores - shall we go releasing them all over the gaff too?

No you couldn't as mink are not a native species.

Re: Ever Eaten Something You Have Killed?
There are no problems for otters. They are breeding exponentially

lowermarshhammer 1:35 Sun Nov 8
Re: Ever Eaten Something You Have Killed?
The biggest problem with otters is the massive reduction in eel numbers which should be their no.1 food source.

Mind you I go fishing locally and have caught chub to 3 or 4lbs less than 100 metres from where I saw an otter in broad daylight last year.

Also carp clubs that overstock waters with just the one species are asking for trouble if they don't fence properly.

They are just creating an otter restaurant.

Re: Ever Eaten Something You Have Killed?
You could say the same about the introduction of otters into UK waterways lower but they're cute and furry so it doesn't matter

Releasing mink deliberately from farms by animal right fluffy wuffy creature Disney fantasists is NOT a good idea.

Mink are carnivores and a generalist predator.

They do not have a specific diet and will eat whatever they catch. They will overkill more than need to eat, that's something I've never done with an air rifle and would never endorse. I'm not personally supportive of pheasant and partridge shoots but understand they have a place in a rural economy. Grouse shooting is iffy.

Anyway, mink release? Their varied diet means they can survive in many different habitats.

They eat approximately a third of their bodyweight a day.

So fuck you species like the now endangered water vole, kingfisher, moorhen, ducks, even the cuddly fluffy wuffy bunny wabbit will cop it when a mink is around,

Mink release by the ALF is a fucking dumb selfish act by clueless dickheads who don't realise and/or care about the harm their actions do.

Perps deserve long custodial sentencing.

Scouse kid , I think the Dorset countryside has a few roaming these days , a programme featured a cricket pitch they ruined . What gun and size bullet stops them ? Do you aim for the head or the heart ? Do they run a distance after being hit ? Do you use a dog to find them ?

So you dont like the idea the idea of mink farming but dont think anyone should do anything about it...and you say the ALF nut jobs dont have a scooby.

I get the feeling that if everyone thought the same as you, no human progress would ever have been made.

.... Back to the thread topic!

I went sea fishing as a kid and caught a whiting, dad gutted and cooked it on a bbq.

Beat that!

MPH a 'holier than thou' vegan? FFS that is a weird choice to make. Jains are brainwashed from birth, what's your excuse?

I suppose you sympathise with those ALF nutjubs who released mink?

Not saying that mink farming is OK by the way, just those animal rights fuckwits haven't got a scooby.

Yes they arent the friendliest of beasts.

The issue over here is that we have loads of them roaming around a lot of it is due to Eu subsides but thats another story.

I live in a small village and every few months or so they tend to have a cull of wild boars as they are a bit of a public meance .

when we first moved over here we found one dead in the pool within the first week.

Still trying to cling to that? Does that make more or less internet hard?

But we are back at the beginning and I would wish you a good day but I am not sure you are capable.

Honestly feel bad for you, man.
